The area
Areas we cover
Four areas, from the Minervois plain up to the gorges that climb towards Quillan. A country of stone villages, where roofs take a beating and being nearby decides everything.
This is not a radius drawn with a compass around an address. These are four real areas, each with its own relief, exposure and roofs — and the villages listed here are the ones we work in, no more and no less.
Being local is not a sales line in this trade; it is logistics. Scaffolding has to go up, pallets of tiles have to be delivered into a narrow village street, and somebody has to be able to come back tomorrow if the weather turns.

The four areas, in relation to each other
Select an area to open its page. The course of the Aude explains the name Haute-Vallée better than a paragraph could.
Positions to scale · areas approximate · rings at 10, 20 and 30 km from Carcassonne.
- Minervois & Alaric The area MBS Roofing Work South France works from, running from the Aude plain to the lower slopes of the Alaric, and across into three villages in the Hérault.
- Haute-Vallée de l’Aude From Limoux up through the gorges towards Quillan — a valley of stone villages where roofs take a beating.
- Corbières Villages of real character with old roofs, where renovation has to respect what is already there.
- Montagne Noire & Cabardès Higher, wetter and more exposed — roofs age differently up here than they do down on the plain.

Towns
Four towns with their own page
Limoux, Quillan, Couiza and Espéraza each have a page of their own: they are the four where the buildings, the access and the questions people ask differ enough to be worth treating separately.
What people assume about a coverage area
- What people assume A roofer works anywhere — distance makes no difference.
- What actually happens It makes every difference to logistics. Erecting a scaffold, getting pallets of tiles delivered and being able to come back tomorrow if the wind gets up are questions of kilometres. Stating a realistic territory beats promising a whole département.
- What people assume The climate of the Aude is the same everywhere.
- What actually happens There are frosty nights in the Haute Vallée when Carcassonne stays clear, and the Montagne Noire takes markedly more water than the plain below it. Those differences decide what fails first.
What the location actually changes for a roof
- Wind exposure In the Minervois corridor, wind is the first cause of wear. Elsewhere it comes after damp.
- The number of frosty nights It separates the Haute Vallée from the rest. Up there, anything holding water becomes a point of failure.
- Drying time In the Montagne Noire a north slope does not dry all winter. That is what makes the moss, not the rain itself.
- How densely it is built In a tight village, party-wall junctions replace free verges — and those are what leak.
- Planning rules In a protected area the covering material is prescribed. That is checked at the address, before any quote.
How we decide whether a job is for us
- Real distance, not distance as the crow flies In the Haute Vallée, twenty kilometres of gorge is worth forty on the plain. Travel time is what counts.
- Access to the building Street width, room for scaffold and skip. Some jobs are close by and impractical.
- The nature of the building Canal tile, old fabric, plenty of awkward details: that is our ground. Other coverings belong to other trades.
- The season You do not strip a covering in a strong wind or on a frozen roof. The diary follows the weather, not the other way round.
- What we say when it is no We would rather say so straight away than waste everybody’s time.
A roof in the area?
Tell us where it is and what you can see. If it is within our patch we will say so straight away — and if it is not, we will say that too.
